COTA is known for many historic moments over The Circuit’s 12 years of bringing world-class entertainment to Central Texas. From motorsports to amphitheater concerts, holiday celebrations and more – there’s plenty of excitement and surprises year-round. However, in honor of Groundhog Day, there are three standout moments that are worth reliving over and over. If only!

3) 2023 Inaugural F1 Academy Champion

The women of F1 Academy brought the thrills of the growing female-only championship to COTA during the 2023 USGP. After a weekend of exciting races, Marta Garcia was crowned the first-ever F1 Academy champion after battling it out for the top of the podium. Her sheer pride in her historic victory was an inspiration to female motorsports fans, staff, and athletes across the world.

2) First Ever United States Grand Prix at Circuit of The Americas

It all started here! While race weekend looks a bit bigger in Central Texas 12 years later, COTA made history as the first purpose-built Formula 1 racetrack in the United States to host its own Grand Prix on November 18th, 2012. Vodafone McLaren Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton took home the victory and McLaren was awarded the constructor’s trophy for Austin’s inaugural event.

1) Taylor Swift Takes COTA

What more is there to say? The worldwide phenomenon delivered a show-stopping performance on Saturday night of the 2016 USGP at the COTA Super Stage. Her star power has skyrocketed faster than Max Verstappen’s trophy tally since she last visited the Circuit – and she is welcome back at COTA anytime!
