The New York Rock Band To Close Out Weekend of Speed & Sound with Performance on Sunday, October 23 at Germania Insurance Amphitheater

AUSTIN, TX (September 28, 2022) Circuit of The Americas (COTA) announced today that Interpol will join the star-studded line up during this year’s Formula 1 USGP at Circuit of The Americas. The chart-topping band will close out the entertainment-packed weekend with a performance on Sunday, October 23 at Germania Insurance Amphitheater.

Formed in New York City, Interpol are Paul Banks (lead vocals, rhythm guitar), Daniel Kessler (lead guitar), and Sam Fogarino (drums).  Released in July, the band’s seventh studio album, The Other Side of Make-Believe, has garnered wide critical acclaim. Associated Press called it, “A melancholy masterpiece of jangling guitar and layers that reveal themselves with every listen.”  “[Make-Believe]  may be Interpol’s most accomplished record since their early run of classics,” wrote The Ringer. The band has been on the road throughout 2022, including a sold-out performance at Mexico City’s Palacio de los Deportes and a coast-to-coast US co-headline tour with label-mates, Spoon. In August, Interpol’s era-defining debut album, Turn On The Bright Lights (2002), celebrated its 20th anniversary.

Also joining the music lineup during Formula 1 weekend is five-time GRAMMY® award-winning punk rock band, Green Day (Friday, Oct. 21) and four-time GRAMMY® Award-winning singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran (Saturday, Oct. 22) and the just announced, Post Malone (Saturday, Oct. 22) at the Bootsy Bellows and Sports Illustrated Circuit Series After Party presented by Cash App and Visa. This exclusive after-party will be held at the Austin-American Statesman and is produced by ABG Entertainment, Uncommon Entertainment, The h.wood Group and Circuit of The Americas.

Fans can also catch a dynamic lineup of local artists, including Gina Chavez, Heartless Bastards, and Rosie Flores, on multiple stages throughout the weekend as part of The American Soundtrack lineup.

With hundreds of thousands of attendees expected over race weekend October 21-23, planning transportation to and from COTA is very important.
