Circuit Notes by Peter Hubbard: Soggy Start for Practice Sessions During Intl. Sportscar Weekend

Drivers from the four classes competing in this weekend’s 6 Hours of Circuit of The Americas, part of the FIA World Endurance Championship, had their first official practice session on a very wet Circuit of The Americas track the morning of Sept. 20, with rear tires routinely kicking up 20-foot sprays of water known as “rooster tails.”
Despite the slick conditions brought on by light overnight and morning rains, there were no major spin-outs, and the wet conditions did little to dampen driver enthusiasm. Teams donned wet-weather tires and and took to the 3.4-mile Grade I racetrack.
