MOTO2™ Race Recap: Spaniard Terol Bests Pole-Sitter for First MOTO2 Victory
British rider Scott Redding started from the pole for the first time in his Moto2 career for Sunday’s Red Bull Grand Prix of the Americas race, but was unable to turn that advantage into his first win. Instead, his No. 45 bike, fielded by the Marc VDS racing team was overtaken on the fifth lap Spanish rider Nicholas Terol, and his No. 18 Mapre Aspar Team Motow bike to score his very first-time Moto2 win. Redding finished a disappointing fifth.
Esteve Rabat, and his No. 80 Tuenti HP40 Kalex bike started fourth on the grid, but dropped as low as eighth before moving deftly through the field with some aggressive moves in the final four laps to take second. Redding’s Marc VDS racing teammate, Mike Kallio, finished third on his No. 36 Kalex, nosing out the No. 77 of Dominique Aegerter by 1.7 seconds.
