CIRCUIT TO HOLD MOMENT OF SILENCE FOR BOSTON, WEST, TEXAS, VICTIMS DURING MOTOGP

Circuit of The Americas will ask patrons attending the Red Bull MotoGP of The Americas on Sunday, April 21, to honor the victims of this week’s bombings at the Boston Marathon in Massachusetts and those who killed or injured in a massive explosion at a fertilizer plant in West, Texas, near Waco on April 17. Circuit officials will conduct a moment of silence to remember the victims of these recent tragedies just prior to the singing of the National Anthem at approximately 1:50 p.m. CDT.

At last report, the bombings in Boston killed three and injured 180 people, while the plant explosion in West, Texas, may have claimed the lives of as many as 15 people while injuring more than 160 others.

Circuit President Steve Sexton said, “The Circuit of The Americas family was greatly saddened by these tragic events, and we know the international community joining us for MotoGP activities this weekend shares our concern about what happened in Boston on Monday and last night in West, Texas, just 100 miles north of Austin. We will take time prior to Sunday’s MotoGP race to remember those who’ve lost so much this week and to share our deepest sympathies with the victims and their families.”
