The “Red Dragon” has captured the pole position at the first running of the GRAND-AM of The Americas on Saturday, March 1. The GAINSCO/Bob Stallings Team car moved up from seventh to second place by the fourth lap, with driver Jon Fogarty grabbing the pole position on the seventh and final lap, posting a low time of 2:00.179.

In the early going, Jordan Taylor, driving the No. 10 Wayne Taylor Racing Corvette Daytona Prototype (DP), posted the quickest qualifying time of 2:00.5. However, within a couple of laps, that time was eclipsed by Memo Rojas, driving the Telmex BMW Riley for Chip Ganassi Racing. Rojas and Taylor settled for second and third on the grid, respectively, followed by Action Express Racing’s No. 9 car in the fifth spot, with teammates Ricky Taylor and Richard Westbrook at the wheel for Saturday’s race.
