Your friendly, neighborhood Circuit and the Del Valle Community Coalition (DVCC) invited more than 1,500 Del Valle residents to enjoy an afternoon of endless fun and bountiful resources on Saturday, June 3.

The first-ever Del Valle Day Community Festival was a unique showcase of the strong partnership between COTA and DVCC. Attendees could ride COTALAND attractions such as the Ferris Wheel and Texas Wild Cat, get their groove on during live performances from local bands, or pose for photo ops at the top of COTA’s iconic 25-story Tower.

Del Valle children and families were admitted at no cost and the lucky first 500 guests were surprised with $10 food vouchers. Alongside the meal giveaways were children’s books provided by Austin Bat Cave.

DVCC also invited local artisans and vendors to showcase their products, and hosted partners with resource booths including free HIV testing from CommUnityCare Health Centers and on-site voter registration. Additionally, few local businesses came to connect with their Del Valle neighbors. Tesla, for example, gave guests with a valid driver’s license a test drive.

“Everyone enjoyed the free rides and a chance to experience this incredible sports and entertainment campus that sits right in their backyard” said Susanna Ledesma Woody, Board President of DVCC. “Guests were grateful for the mix of community resources and local vendors, and fun, of course.”

All proceeds from the event benefitted the Del Valle Community Coalition to continue developing programming that empowers residents and providing services that assist the Del Valle community.
