Lone Star Le Mans At Circuit Of The Americas™ Attracts Two-day Attendance Of 50,334
AUSTIN, Texas (Sept. 20, 2014 ) – Circuit of The Americas (COTA) welcomed a two-day crowd of 50,334 for Lone Star Le Mans, a celebration of sports car racing from the Tudor United SportsCar Championship and the FIA World Endurance Championship.
The inaugural event brought together for the first time two of the world’s premier sports car racing series and marked the debut of night racing at Circuit of The Americas, capped off with a fireworks show while cars were still on track Saturday night. Total attendance was a 33 percent increase over last year’s International Sports Car Weekend, which brought in 33,591 people over three days.
With an open paddock, autograph sessions and pitlane walks, guests had numerous opportunities to explore and interact with the teams and drivers throughout each full day of racing. Additionally, guests were treated to a festival-like atmosphere around the facility that included live music by Blue Oyster Cult and more, interactive displays, family-friendly games and activities and an exciting fireworks display at night.
“The response from fans who attended Lone Star Le Mans was overwhelmingly positive, and we are thrilled to have hosted two world-class racing series while giving our guests a variety of entertainment options at this world-class facility,” Chief Marketing Officer Dominic Iacono said.
