While practice didn’t make for perfect laps, it certainly made for better ones Saturday afternoon, especially for the LMP1 and LMP2 cars competing in this weekend’s 6 Hours of Circuit of The Americas, part of the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) race at Circuit of The Americas™. Both classes posting markedly better times in the afternoon than they had in the morning practice session.

Partial credit goes to the weather, as the steady rainfall that plagued the morning practice moderated a great deal. Some credit also goes to the American Le Mans Series (ALMS) drivers who had spent nearly two hours on the track prior to the WEC session, qualifying for their Saturday afternoon race. Thanks to the work done by their rain tires, the track surface provided quite a bit more grip than it had earlier in the day.
