Circuit Notes by Peter Hubbard: Alms Qualifying Rounds Prove Challenging in Wet Conditions
Off-and-on rains on Friday afternoon made qualifying a bit more challenging than usual for the five classes of cars competing in this weekend’s American Le Mans Series presented by Tequila Patrón at Circuit of The Americas™. For some drivers, the track was wet and slippery. For others it was dry and greasy, which tended to heat up the tires and drive down qualifying times. It all depended on what time in the afternoon cars were on the track. Surfaces were wetter for the GTC, GT and PC cars and a bit dryer for drivers piloting the P1 and P2 cars.
