While the win by Marc Marquez in the Moto GP™ race Sunday, April 21, was certainly the top story of the day, the Moto3™ race that kicked off the day’s racing activities certainly matched the “main event” in terms of excitement and drama.

Spanish racer Alex Rins, running the No. 42 bike for the Estrella Galicia 0.0 team, had handily secured the pole during Saturday’s qualifying. He also wound up winning the race, but not without some challenges. Rins led the first 12 laps of the race after a brief shoot-out with Luis Salom in Turn 1, but was followed closely by the other two riders in the front row of the starting grid, Salom’s No. 39 bike, representing RedBull KTM Ajo and the No. 25 bike of Maverick Viñales, representing Team Calvo.
