U.S. Drivers Look For F1™ Foothold as 2013 Grand Prix Season Begins

For well over 35 years now, the Formula 1™ international racing series has been dominated by international drivers. Most American F1™ fans are painfully aware that the last American to win a Formula 1 race was Mario Andretti, way back in 1978. But it’s doubtful that many will remember the date and place of his last Formula 1 win.

For the record, Andretti won the 1978 Dutch Grand Prix, held at Zandvoort, Holland, on Aug. 27, 1978. He went on to win the Formula 1™ Drivers’ Championship that year, the last time an American performed that feat.
