PRO MAZDA CHAMPIONSHIP BY COOPER TIRES QUALIFYING RESULTS

Diego Ferreira, driving the No. 57 Juncos racer, edged out Mathew Brabham’s No. 83 Andretti Autosport car on the final lap of qualifying by less than .02 hundredths of a second, with a lap time of 2:03.121 to grab the pole position for the first of two Pro Mazda races being held at Circuit of The Americas, March 1 and 2.
Brabham comes from a strong line of well-known motor racing icons. He is a third-generation racing driver, the son of Geoff Brabham and the grandson of three-time Formula 1™ World Champion Sir Jack Brabham.
Team Pelfrey’s No. 81 and No. 82 cars also finished strong, placing its two drivers, Spencer Pigot and Petri Suvanto in the No. 3 and No. 4 positions, on the starting grid in the field of 16 drivers. The top eight drivers in the field, all posted times below 2:04 on the Circuit’s 3.4-mile road course.
