Circuit of The Americas today hosted the Formula Run in partnership with the RunTex Foundation, and gave regional runners a chance to be some of the first athletes to compete at the new purpose-built Grand Prix facility in Central Texas. Circuit of The Americas will host its first major event, the 2012 FORMULA 1 UNITED STATES GRAND PRIX Nov. 16-18.

On-site attendance for the event was estimated at approximately 5,000 individuals, and those who participated in the 3.4-mile fun run/walk did so while a heavy fog blanketed Travis County through the mid-morning hours, greatly slowing travel times for many motorists. While 2,800 participants pre-registered for the Formula Run, thousands waited to register at Circuit of The Americas, just prior to the event. As such, event organizers postponed the official start of the run by approximately 40 minutes to allow more time for late registrants to join in.
