Sebastian Vettel made a crucial error at the beginning of the race by spinning while trying to get ahead of Daniel Ricciardo. Mercedes cost Lewis Hamilton time by waiting too long before making a pitstop allowing Max Verstappen to ease by. Esteban Ocon was disqualified after finishing in 8th for exceeding fuel flow limits on the first lap.
