Best in TX Stem

October 21-23, 2022

Circuit of The Americas (COTA) has launched the Best in TX STEM Competition for both high school and college students. The high school competition is for central Texas students (Austin & San Antonio Regions) and the college competition is for students at every Texas college and university. In this program, students will design an F1 car part and race operation through simulation.

The competition consists of two parts: car part design and race operation. Teams will be responsible for submitting a design of a racing car part (e.g., a 2-speed gearbox or a nose cone in CAD), along with a race operations worksheet.

First place winners will receive complimentary General Admission tickets to the 2022 United States Grand Prix and all participating STEM teams will have the opportunity to purchase a General Admission ticket for Friday, October 21 (Practice Day and Green Day concert on COTA Super Stage) for only $20/person. Additionally, teams will be invited to our program’s celebration event on Friday morning where they will be recognized for their efforts and achievements, and will hear from successful race engineers and designers in motorsports.

The goal of this competition is for you, and your team to work together and learn as much as possible about elite motorsport engineering and design. In the following pages, you will find more information about the rules, additional resources, and deliverables for the competition.

Submission deadline is October 17th at 5:00 PM CT. Contact [email protected] if you have any questions.
