Circuit of the Americas’ Motogp Event Celebrates America’s Motorcycle Culture

Fans heading to Circuit of The Americas (COTA) for the 2014 Red Bull Grand Prix of the Americas will enjoy an action-packed weekend of world-class sports and entertainment, with a variety of activities celebrating America’s motorcycle culture. Live music, freestyle motocross demonstrations, MotoGP rider autograph sessions, and the opportunity to walk on the track after the race are just some of the free activities offered to members and guests with their paid admission to COTA’s second annual MotoGP™ event.

“Fans joining us for this year’s Red Bull Grand Prix of The Americas will be treated to a weekend full of amazing racing, plus live entertainment, daredevil performers on the ground and in the sky, appearances by our world-famous COTA Girls, and one of the largest fan zones we’ve ever created with massive motorcycle displays, product and merchandise showcases in the Grand Plaza and Support Paddock,” said COTA Vice President of Public & Media Relations Julie Loignon. “Our MotoGP event is like the ‘Oscars’ for motorcycle enthusiasts and manufacturers who come to Austin to celebrate their love for two-wheeled recreation. And our diverse entertainment schedule offers plenty for casual fans and families to see and do in between the on-track action.”

Meet your favorite MotoGP riders

Back by popular demand are the free autograph and Q&A sessions with MotoGP riders. Fans eager to meet their favorite riders and get the inside scoop on their preparations for the second MotoGP grand prix of the season can participate in sessions scheduled for Friday, April 11, and Saturday, April 12, at 4:25 p.m. in the Austin360 Amphitheater (all times Central).

See daredevils on the ground in the skies

Between the exhilarating on-track racing scheduled for the MotoGP, Moto2™ and Moto3™ divisions, fans can experience the thrills and chills of freestyle motocross jumpers and streetbike performers, as stunt riders show off their skills throughout the weekend. Event sponsor Red Bull is bringing its FMX motorcycle jumpers and streetbike performer Aaron Colton to COTA to entertain and amaze spectators with performances in the Support Paddock and along the Main Straight of the racetrack. On race day, April 13, fans will see amazing feats above the ground, too, as skydivers with the Red Bull Air Force jump into the pre-race action at COTA.

Soak up the motorcycle culture at Ducati Island and the Marketplace

Ducati Island will be making its Austin debut at this year’s MotoGP race. As the largest fan zone of its kind in the world, Ducati Island features legendary fashion shows, rider appearances, technical seminars, product demonstrations and more. Ducati Island will be located on COTA’s Grand Plaza lawn and will be open to all race attendees. Also open to the public this year at COTA is the Marketplace. Located in the Support Paddock, the Marketplace is the premier location to check up on the latest and greatest in power sports products, including new motorcycles, helmets, riding gear, team and rider merchandise.  Fans can shop for their favorite brands and enjoy a great sampling of food and refreshments.

Live concerts keep the party going

Austin’s “Musician of the Year” and local favorite Bob Schneider will perform a concert in the Austin360 Amphitheater at the conclusion of the race on Sunday, April 13 (approximately 3 p.m.). Schneider’s performance is included in the price of admission to the MotoGP event. An award-winning, eclectic and charismatic performer, Schneider enjoys a diehard fan basein his hometown, Austin, Texas, as well as nationwide. He’s flourished as an independent recording artist, releasing five albums, hundreds of digital singles and fronting three bands, The Scabs, Texas Bluegrass Massacre, and Lonelyland, simultaneously.

Guests can also enjoy live music throughout the weekend at the Jagermeister Stage located in the Support Paddock on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. This stage will feature performances from local DJs to keep the party going all weekend long.

Red Bull Turn 3 College Zone

University students will have a dedicated space to enjoy this year’s race in the Red Bull Turn 3 College Zone. Students can enjoy great drinks and live music from the Red Bull MXT truck and some of the track’s best views of the race.

Fans can enter drawing for a brand new sportbike

Fans attending the Red Bull Grand Prix of The Americas on Friday, April 11, and Saturday, April 12, can register to win a Tito’s Handmade Vodka-branded sportbike, courtesy of Central Texas PowerSports.  Registration will take place at a designated booth in the Grand Plaza and the drawing for the motorcycle will take place in the Austin360 Amphitheater on Saturday, April 12, following the MotoGP riders’ autograph session at 4:25 p.m.

Great MotoGP tickets are still available

Tickets for the Red Bull Grand Prix of The Americas start at $39 per person. Children ages 12 and under receive free general admission with a ticketed adult. Tickets can be purchased at http://circuitoftheamericas.com/motogp/ through Thursday, April 10, and at COTA’s Grand Plaza Ticket Office throughout race weekend.

**Visit Guest Service booth locations in the Grand Plaza, Main Grandstand and Turn 1 to pick up wristbands for access to rider autograph sessions. Wristband supplies are limited and awarded on a first-come, first-served basis Friday, April 11, and Saturday, April 12.  Limit one (1) wristband per guest. Wristbands are not required to access Q&A sessions in the amphitheater. Q&A sessions are open to all members and guests.
